The society includes experts from a broad range of microscopical disciplines across life and physical sciences. Membership application/renewal instructions are provided here for new or former members.

The aims of the Society are stated in the Society’s Constitution. In brief, the society is principally concerned with the following goals:

• To foster an interest in the science and practice of microscopy.
• To create a forum for academic and technical dialogue in matters relating to microscopy.
• To promote training and education facilities for its members.
