EM-UKI Meeting: National Spotlight on Ireland

The Electron Microscopy UK & Ireland 2025 meeting hosted by the Royal Microscopical Society featured a national spotlight on electron microscopy on the island of Ireland, presented by Jonathan Peters as a representative from MSI (standing in for MSI President Kerry Thompson who unfortunately couldn’t make it).

This was a great way to demonstrate the breadth of research and capabilities on the island, as well as discuss the problems and opportunities facing our community. Special thanks to those institutions and facilities that sent in slides and information on their facilities to be presented. We put on a strong showing and it was a good way to show off new capabilities in volume electron microscopy (vEM) and cryo electron microscopy being built on the island.

Next year the EM-UKI meeting will be hosted in Ireland (location TBD), and we encourage you to attend as a fantastic and accessible opportunity for community building between academics, commercial/industrial microscopists, technicians, and vendors.
